The Hawkesbury Historical Society warmly invites you to the Back to Tebbutt’s Skywatching Event on Saturday, 1st November 2025, at 6:30 PM. This will be held at the Tebbutt Observatory in Windsor NSW.

You will have the remarkable chance to observe Saturn, along with the possibility of spotting Mars and Mercury. There will be amazing and knowledgeable folks, on hand, who will explain various constellations and you’ll be able to marvel at the gibbous moon shining brightly above.

The event will feature modern telescopes provided by local astronomy enthusiasts providing a great opportunity to check out a range of telescope views!

You can also inspect the original 8″ Grubb Refractor Telescope, which was installed in 1888 by the renowned astronomer John Tebbutt. This historic observatory is a treasure trove of astronomical legacy, named after Tebbutt, who made significant contributions to the field of astronomy, including the discovery of several comets.

I recommend bringing a jacket to stay warm, and a torch covered with red cellophane for night visibility. Refreshments and supper will be provided, ensuring a delightful experience, even if the clouds decide to make an appearance.

This event is particularly enjoyable for children, making it a perfect outing for families and stargazers of all ages. Early booking is essential, as spaces are limited!

For bookings, please email the Hawkesbury Historical Society with your name, the number of participants, and a contact number. The event will proceed unless there’s severe rain. Great value for an amazing night out!
